Description
Mathilde Wauters was born in Bruges into a family of musicians, studying initially in Bruges before being accepted into the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp.
She performs regularly with her sister Emma (also a harpist), whilst she completes her training with the Orchestra Academy of the Munich Philharmonic where she performs under the direction of Valery Gergiev.
Whispers of Tales is the title of her debut recording on Etcetera where she performs a selection of works by de Falla, Glinka, Balakirev and Marcel Tournier.
Mathilde says of this recording:
"In the past, people knew how to brighten up long evenings without television, radio or social media. By telling tales to each other, the darkness didn't seem so endless, and travels could be made all around the world - at least imaginary ones. To honour this ancient knowledge, I wanted to make a CD about musical tales."
