Continuing Tacet's series of vinyl recordings, this 180g vinyl LP of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition, recorded by Austrian pianist Markus Schirmer in 2005, is available in famous reverse playback mode.
It has been some time since Markus Schirmer visited Modest Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Despite the considerable competition, the recording has received excellent reviews. Schirmer impresses with well-thought-out, succinct and precisely-measured effects, which are shown off to their best advantage on the Fazioli piano in the List Halle in Graz, Austria.
Markus Schirmer (b.1063) is a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz. His other recordings for Tacet include Beethoven: Early Piano Sonatas Op. 13, Op.2 No.2 and Op.2 No.3 (TACET128) and Beethoven: Piano Sonatas Nos.13, 14, 19 and 20 (TACET194).
