Adolphe Gutmann album- Chopin's Favorite Student includes a premiere recording of Adolphe Gutmann's works for four hands and several of his solo compositions performed by Maria Gabrys-Heyke and Dmitri Ablogin. "In general, Gutmann's work is graceful, somewhat sentimental, lyrical. [...] Gutmann's musical imagination was undoubtedly influenced by Chopin's work, mainly in terms of style and adoption of features typical of the master of texture, melody, harmony and ornamentation patterns" (Ewa Slawinska-Dahlig). Pieces for four hands - waltzes, nocturnes and gallops, despite their popularity in the 19th century, did not receive modern sheet music and fell into oblivion.
