  • Description

First time reissue of this Creole spiritual jazz holy grail - one of the rarest and best albums out of Guadeloupe, Luc-Hubert Sejor's 1979 LP 'Mizik Filamonik - Spiritual Sound'.

Telluric and powerful, gwoka drums embody Guadeloupe's spirit, rooted in slavery's legacy and fuelled by cultural resistance. On 'Mizik Filamonik - Spiritual Sound', a landmark album, Sejor redefines gwoka, jazz-rock infusions, and militant pride. Against a backdrop of exile, postcolonial struggle, and political unrest, Sejor's music becomes a spiritual call for identity and dignity.

Tracks trace voyages from slavery to "Bumidom" migration (migration of workers from Antilles islands to France mainland) and back home, reflecting a Creole soul's resilience. Though he left the stage for teaching and activism, Sejor's flame endures - his album, a timeless manifesto of sonic and cultural emancipation.

    • First reissue on CD & LP of seminal sought after LP, with original vinyl copies selling for GBP200+
    • Artwork by Jocelyne Beroard (from the band Kassav')
    • Liner notes in English, Creole and French
    • Mastered at The Carvery from original tapes
