Description
Sibelius wrote around a hundred songs over a period of more than thirty years. Following on from the success of Volume 1 which was released earlier this year on Naxos (8570019), this CD contains more of Sibelius's songs including some world premi?¿re recordings. The best of the songs are essentially nature pieces, dark-hued, vividly characterized, intensely melancholic and vocally demanding, which Sibelius considered to represent his \innermost self. Finnish duo Hannu Jurmu and Jouni Somero provide a winning interpretation of the music of their compatriot.""
