Jim Hart, vibes wizard and instigator of the Loop Collective, leads his new quartet, with pianist Ivo Neame, in a superb, swinging set of mainly standards.
Mainly known for his work within the Loop Collective, Jim Hart is very much at home in straight ahead, swinging company. On this recording, he puts his magnificent drumming to one side, to concentrate on his virtuoso vibes playing. His quartet features relative new comer pianist Ivo Neame and two veterans of the jazz scene - Mick Cody on bass and Tristian Maillot on drums. Standards make up most of the repertoire, although there are a couple of accessible originals by Jim and a rarely heard Jobim gem.
A tight and integrated session which should put Hart at the forefront of vibes players today.
