  • Description

The title of Jaime Wyatt's newest release Felony Blues is a nod to records like David Allan Coe's Penitentiary Blues and Johnny Cash's Live From Folsom Prison. The mostly autobiographical collection is chalk full of stories of conjugal romance, prison songs, and honky-tonk laments. She got busted at a young age for robbing her drug dealer and took a plea deal for 8 months in jail, a felony strike, 6 months of treatment and 3 years felony probation. Sonically, imagine a twangier Fleetwood Mac, or if Linda Rondstadt and the Stones had made a record.

A striking figure with an old soul, and a voice like a force of nature, it's Wyatt's "Punk Rock attitude," professes Heart's Nancy Wilson, one of Wyatt's many high-profile admirers, that sets her apart.

Regardless of genre, Wyatt is all things classic and American; a dynamic performer, who sails naturally between vintage 60s and 70s country/rock 'n' soul anthems and heartfelt country ballads of love and corruption. Country radio station 95.3 The Bear recently named her alongside Sturgill Simpson and Margo Price as "one of the country artists you may not have heard of, but need to hear."

The musicians on the record include top notch Americana and country pickers John Schreffler Jr and Ted Russell Kamp from Shooter Jennings band; Gabe Witcher of the Punch Brothers playing fiddle; fellow Angelino country songwriter, Sam Outlaw, features on the duet "Your Loving Saves Me"; and long time friend and drummer Freddy Bokkenheuser, now the touring drummer for Ryan Adams.

"...from beginning to end, there simply isn't a weak moment on this record". Americana-UK.com

"Jaime Wyatt emerges as a quality songwriter with a strong country voice" - Country Music People ****

"Female outlaw country at its finest and another contender for our album of the year. An outstanding collection of songs." - Your Life In A Song

" Felony Blues stands in good company with a wide range of outstanding female artists emerging from the fringes who are making their mark." Lonesomehighway.com

"Jaime Wyatt may have been an outlaw but she's riding away from that past now. With songs as good as this there ain't no borders, no boundaries to how far this girl could go." highwayqueen.com

"FELONY BLUES is an album designed to make an instant impact without a layer of throwaway packaging. It presents Jaime Wyatt as a country artist to place on your 'get to know' list and one you won't regret liaising with. A sentiment launched into cyberspace by Rolling Stone's anointment of her as a "New Country Artist You Need To Know". You may ask what do they know, but in this instance, they are spot on." threechordsandthetruth.co.uk

"Jaime Wyatt's luminous voice and clever lyrics are very much the sound of a star in the making." The Rocking Magpie
