Description
Relax - would seem a paradoxical message from a band that cant seem to sit still.
Following Evil Hits, their (compiling a string of their EPs), Relax sees the band expanding both their sound and their membership, recording for the first time as a five-piece.
And for the Austin-based Holy Wave, the hits just keep coming, evil or not.
The band continues to carefully combine fluid forms of sacred surf sounds, droning riffs and group vocals that haunt and harmonize in equal measure, contributing to a churning ocean of sound " the perfect conditions for a Holy Wave.
Strange, perhaps, that Relax is the recording result of a year in which the band has done anything but.
In the time since their last album, a touring schedule of non-stop shows, seems to have further strengthened the bands songwriting, their sound large and confident, yet still streamlined.
Holy Wave brings a controlled fuzz-frenzy as deep as it is wide, captured with care by producer Erik Wofford (Explosions in the Sky, My Morning Jacket, The Black Angels).
