Description
The Grammy-award winning band Grupo Fantasma is a nine-piece musical institution from Austin, Texas that specialises in a vibrant fusion which it calls 'Latin-Funk'. The band is best known for its association with Prince and has performed and toured nationally and internationally since 2000.
The Wall Street Journal has described their sound as "music both new and traditional... vibrant fusions that transcend easy classification." The group's music has been featured in several high profile television shows including 'Breaking Bad', 'Weeds', 'Law & Order' and 'Ugly Betty', while the band has also appeared on Austin City Limits and as the backing band for Prince on the US nationally televised 'Alma Awards'.
Their sixth album 'Problemas' is the follow up to the Grammy-award winning 'El Existential' and is produced by multi-Grammy award winner Steve Berlin of Los Lobos and recorded by Jim Eno of renowned Austin indie group Spoon. -
