He also loves to perform the large scale cyclical works such as Beethoven or Schubert on several consecutive evenings. Variations" could be the theme of this 10th volume in his recordings of Schubert's piano works. It presents as it's central work the "Wanderer Fantasy", where in the second movement are a set of variations on the famous song "The Wanderer" D 489. Oppitz achieves here a momentous emotional climax in this performance.
