Description
The Sonatas of the Italian composer Ferdinando Turrini (1745-1829) are a major testimony to the beginning of the sonata form in Italy. This disc features the world premiere recordings of two unpublished collections, the Six Harpsichord Sonatas of 1795, and Six Sonatas for Harpsichord with Violin Accompaniment and a Fugue for Solo Harpsichord written in 1784.
They represent a significant rediscovery of the music of an important transition period in which the piano gradually superseded the harpsichord. The soloists are the keyboard player Giusy de Berandinis and the violinist Cristina Palucci.
Personnel: Giusy de Berardinis (harpsichord), Cristina Palucci (violin).
