Description
There I was in Tokyo in 2016 finishing the Shakatak tour, when a quiet discerning Japanese man called Yasuyuki Mizuno approaches me at the merchandise table and says he has a cassette of a Fusion Orchestra show he attended at the Marquee London in 1973 (Jill Saward.)
This was his story: "I liked music since I was so young and around 1970, I loved many British rock musicians, Led Zeppelin, Yes, King Crimson, too many to name them all! There was no internet, no YouTube, and it's hard to know about them. I just bought Melody Maker and NME sometimes to get the news and I decided to go to England to know what was happening at the centre of rock music! So, in July 1974, I went to LONDON using the Trans Siberian train and the Dover ferry! I found a room near Kew Gardens, and bought an A-Z and a Melody Maker to know where to go. I was in London just 3 months and went to many concerts, including Fusion Orchestra. I found the gig guide in MM and I liked the band name so much! After the show, I felt I'm so lucky to see you and I would follow you, and I am your fan, still now!"
