Description
13-song "Best Of" collection drawn from Claire Lynch and the Front Porch String Band's two early albums on Rebel Records.
Alabama's Front Porch String Band appeared on the bluegrass scene in the late 1970s featuring their outstanding front woman, Claire Lynch. With a refreshing sound that attracted immediate attention, the band was professional and appealing. However, the star of the show was definitely Lynch, who has since twice received the prestigious "Female Vocalist of the Year" award from the IBMA.
Hills of Alabam is a best-of collection taken from the group's first two Rebel releases, including Lines & Traces as well as their eponymous debut. It contains Claire's original and definitive versions of classics such as "Wabash Cannonball," "Hills of Alabam," "Kennesaw Line" and "The Day That Lester Died."
Attesting to the group's popularity and the quality of the music, both of their Rebel recordings have remained in the label's catalog for over thirty years! This album of Claire Lynch's early work is a fine compilation of tried-and-true bluegrass with a contemporary touch.
