Description
This CD features broadcast recordings of Fritz Kreisler made on The Bell Telephone Hour from 1944-50. This initial volume is the ?rst in a projected 3-CD series, and contains all the concerto movements that the great Austrian violinist performed on the radio. Movements from the Mozart Concerto No. 4, Mendelssohn and Brahms Concertos are included, but most signi?cant are several items are new to the Kreisler discography. Among the items on this CD that Kreisler never recorded commercially are the ?rst movement of Mozart’s Concerto No. 3, the opening two movements of the Bruch Concerto No.1, and the complete Viotti Concerto No. 22. All of these live performances of the great violinist come from pristine source material that has never before been released, and capture the beloved violinist in vivid sound.
