Description
For Atlanta outfit floral print, what began as a chance meeting on Facebook between drummer Paul DeMerritt and singer / guitarist Nathan Springer has evolved into an exciting, challenging and perpetually unpredictable collaboration. The pair begin performing in late 2014 and quickly honed their their ingenuity for dizzying song structures and erratic rhythms rooted in pop sensibilities. The debut EP woo, recorded with bassist George Pettis (100 Watt Horse) and producer Graham Tavel, showcased floral prints vibrant pastiche of psych-pop, early emo, ambient and deconstructionist rock.Following woo, the duo (rounded out by a rotating cast of bassists) embarked on numerous tours throughout the East Coast and Midwest, making friends and tightening their uncanny sonic communication skills. In summer 2016, floral print once again linked up with Tavel to record its debut full-length, mirror stages, at Broad Street Visitors Center in Downtown Atlanta. These new songs display a marked change in tone from woo, as glimmers of noise, distorted melancholy, and manic energy imbued the band's sound with more nuance and stylistic aberrations. floral prints ability to defy genre convention sidesteps any feelings of forced technical showmanship as its mercurial sense of melody and rhythm is always couched in sincerity.
