Description
Fagernes Yacht Klubb has been among Norway's most exclusive and sought-after live bands for a decade already. Thanks to rare and always sold out concerts the myth has grown with the years. The ensemble, known for the most heartfelt renditions of Toto and Christopher Cross on this side of the Atlantic, has always relied on playing others' music. But what if they released their own material?
Original tunes from Fagernes Yacht Klubb you say? That's right. The band spends a certain amount of time traveling and backstage and includes a bunch of talented songwriters.
So every now and then a new yacht rock-tune is created somewhere in Norway. This collective has through the years educated the Norwegian public in the pleasures of smooth music, especially through legendary shows during the yearly Øya festival.
In-between healthy amounts of bubbly and seabreeze, this merited bunch has found time to create two brand new songs. Recorded in a small riverside studio in Oslo hours before a huge festival gig, these songs really encapsulate the combined talents of its contributors. It sounds like silk and velvet, sailboats and rolling waves, neon signs and convertibles.
The songs were written by Svein Hermansen, Håkon Njøten and Stian Iversen, and the orchestra consists of: Stian Iversen, Håkon Njøten, Irem Müftüoglu, Ingjerd Østrem, Sigrid Aase, Geir Hermansen, Svein Hermansen, Marius Klovning, Johan Hatleskog, Audun Hjort, Håvar Skaugen, Håvard Funderud, Hans Marius Andersen og Marius Erster Bergesen.
