Description
With this project, Sardinian saxophonist Enzo Favata returns to his passion for sacred music, a passion addressed on his earlier releases such as Boghes and Voices, a German Music Award nominated album in 2003. Today, with over twenty years elapsed, Favata now takes us on an imagined astral journey with Mystic Geography.
On Mystic Geography we find sounds that are distant from each other, but which blend perfectly with those archaic sounds of the viola and voice, a journey between the music of the 1500s and contemporary sounds.
A truly magical trio that has managed to merge the spirit of ancient music with contemporary electronics, putting together the lessons of John Hassell, Brian Eno, psychedelic music with echoes of Pink Floyd, and some early Genesis guitar sounds, all blended by skilful jazz improvisation at the service of a great mystical landscape. The music is intended as hypnotic mantras, a fusion between acoustic and electronic; a surreal environment where songs follow one another, some placed between 1500 and 1600, and others by 20th Century authors.
