Description
Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky is one of the most often transcribed compositions in the history of music. Already at the beginning of the 20th century, the famous orchestration by Maurice Ravel gained more popularity than the original version. Subsequently, the piece has been arranged in countless versions, ranging from successive orchestrations to organ, guitar and rock arrangements. The album Ensemble Rayuela contains another original arrangement of this kind (version for 4 saxophones and piano), showing this very popular work from yet another perspective.
The album is complemented by the worl premiere recordings of pieces composers Benoît Sitzia and Alex Nante, dedicated to the Ensemble Rayuela saxophone quartet.
