Description
First Rain is the latest album by Italian jazz pianist Emiliano D'Auria.
At the head of a quartet featuring Luca Aquino on trumpet, Giacomo Ancillotto on guitar, Dario Miranda on double bass, and Ermanno Baron on drums, Emiliano D'Auria presents twelve new composition that are made to measure 'talking- landscapes' of the Norwegian wilderness and the Island of Giske, where the album was recorded between February and March 2023>br>
First Rain holds all the energy of immeasurable spaces, the breath of broad visions, the perception of changes, both imminent and upcoming, and of an approaching 'first' rain.
Emiliano D'Auria's compositions are full of wonder and authenticity; a flow of evocative soundscapes that give life to a rarefied and spiritual atmosphere. However, without giving up space for solo performances, the instruments of the quartet interact in unison and are geared toward the construction of a collective thought. The lyrism of Aquino's trumpet, the rough sound of Ancillotto's six strings, the more melodic pianism of D'Auria's piano, the certainty and perfect intonation of Miranda's double bass, together with the free approach of Baron's drums, are all distinctive and referable traits that lead back to the single elements which, once mixed, magically transform into a common sound. It is the search for this sound that identifies D'Auria's intentions and stylistics signature.
