Description
Caneuon John Rutter is Cordydd's first CD. It includes the new translations of John Rutter's beautiful and moving Requiem, featuring guest soloist Elin Manahan Thomas, and a number of his other choral pieces, recorded for the first time in Welsh.
Cordydd was formed in 2000 when a group of friends came together to enjoy singing and socializing. The rehearsals attracted many of the young citizens of Cardiff, and the choir grew in size and popularity. Since its inception, the choir has won the BBC Radio Cymru Choir of the Year award in 2003; performed The Messiah with the Baroque Orchestra of Wales; toured Barbados and Hong Kong; performed Verdi's Requiem as part of a massed choir with the BBC Choir and National Orchestra of Wales; performed Brahms' Requiem with the Swansea Bach choir; won the mixed choir with under 45 voices three times at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.
