Description
Village on Fire is the first single release from Dust Mountain's debut album Hymns for Wilderness, which will be released in the fall 2021 by Svart Records. The mandolin riff driven Village on Fire is a powerful theme for burning down unjust kingdoms. Dust Mountain was founded in 2016 by siblings Toni Hietamaki (Oranssi Pazuzu, Waste of Space Orchestra) and Henna Hietamaki (Cats of Transnistria, Henna & Houreet). They have been brewing their musical magic potions for an eternity and are now finally ready to share the fruits of their joined forces with the world.
In April 2021 Dust Mountain performed at the legendary Roadburn Festivals special online version as a part of Svart Sessions. The lead vocalist & lyricist Henna and guitar & mandolin & organ player, songwriter Toni are accompanied by an exceptional band: drummer Jukka Ramanen (Hexvessel, Dark Buddha Rising) and bassist Riku Pirttiniemi (Death Hawks) guide us deep into transcendental grooves as guitarist, backing vocalist Pauliina Lindell (Vuono) weaves a net of otherworldly harmonies.
Dust Mountain's psychedelic, progressive folk rock is inspired by 1960's and 1970's acts such as Fairport Convention, Pentangle, Jefferson Airplane, Coven and Linda Perhacs ? with a soft touch of doom riffs and distortions. The stories celebrate the connection to nature and ancient rituals. Moving between fictional fantasies and true, close-to-heart beliefs, Dust Mountain's joyous pagan gospel seeks pieces of a world hidden but not lost.
