Description
Following their previous release on Challenge Classics, “Tango Romances�, which featured the music of Piazzola and Bragato, the Devich Trio present a disc similarly inspired by the passionate Latin spirit that is devoted to Spanish composers. Entitled “Estilo Espgnol�, it is a collection of pieces by Turina, Granados, Cassadó, and Arbós.
The Hungarian pianist Hanna Devich, the Dutch cellist Jasper Havelaar and the South African violinist Sarah Oates met in 2003. After their first performance in Germany, the three were convinced they had found the ideal chamber music partners. Since then they have been performing regularly, and in a short time have managed to show a very impressive repertoire list. In their quest for their own musical voice they have been supported by experienced masters including Sandor Devich, Istvan Parkanyi and Eberhard Feltz. In November 2004 their first CD, The Czech Legacy (CC72402), was released. It included works by Dvorak, Novak and Suk, and received an enthusiastic reaction from the press. This was followed in 2006 by “The Czech Legacy II� (CC72158), which featured music by Dvorak and Smetana, and in 2007 they released a recording entitled “Tango Romances� (CC72178), which music of Piazzola and Bragato. -
