Description
Ysgol Glanaethwy's energetic and enthusiastic 120 member Junior Choir present their debut album of songs in English and Welsh including a beautiful rendition of Cohen's Halleluja and a specially commissioned bilingual song With my Voice.
Following on the success of Ysgol Glanaethwy's 'O Fortuna' album, which featured tracks by the school's junior choir, Sain (Recordiau) Cyf are proud to release the Junior Choir's debut album - Ymlaen a'r Gan. The recent "Glanaethwy" TV series featured on S4C proved to be so popular that the decision was made to release two separate albums, as there were so many songs in the locker. There are over 120 lively young choristers in the Junior Choir, with their ages ranging from 8 to 14 years.
It's been a very busy period for the members recently, with the choir going from strength to strength, both on the concert and competition stage. Having won awards in several music festivals such as the National and Llangollen Eisteddfod, the North Wales Music Festival, Music for Youth and S4C's Côr Cymru competition, the choir delights in facing new musical challenges.
Following the success in Music for Youth, the Junior choir were invited to perform in the Schools Proms at London's Albert Hall, an experience they thoroughly enjoyed. Included on this CD are the choir's particular favourites, and the song 'With my voice' was composed specially for the choir by Einion Dafydd and Cefin Roberts.
