This edition contains the long unavailable Birdland set pairing Bird with Fats Navarro and Bud Powell in its entirety.
Navarro would die shortly after these recordings were made on July 7, 1950 due to a combination of tuberculosis and heroin addiction. He was only 26. Bird, Fats and Bud are splendid on all of these long and relaxed performances.
As a bonus, Bird's Nest have added another complete set taped at Birdland a few months earlier, and the only existing tune
from a 1953 radio broadcast, presenting Bird and Bud
playing “Dance of the Infidels�.
