Frontman Boyd Small was a local hero in the Portland area as singer/drummer of the Terraplanes for 11 years. He drummed with Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Jimmy Rogers, Hubert Sumlin, Guitar Shorty and Pinetop Perkins to name a few.
After touring Europe with Monti Amundson in 1997 he moved to Amsterdam and co-founded Amsterdam based alternative roots and modern blues label "Cool Buzz". While working with Cool Buzz he co- produced several CDs for American and Dutch artists including Monti Amundson, Jim Wallace, Drippin' Honey and The Cuban Heels. He also recorded three critically acclaimed albums, two with the 9-piece Boyd Small band and one with his 4 piece band.
On one of his return visits to the great northwest Boyd rounded up the cream of the crop. Featuring the best blues guitarists Portland, Oregon has to offer this new CD is a must for blues guitar lovers.
It was recorded live in studio in Portland in August 2006 in the middle of a heat wave. You can hear the steam coming off the fretboards. Boyd plays drums and sings. Willy Barber (Lloyd Jones band) plays bass . On guitars are Monti Amundson, Peter Damman (Paul Delay Band), Josh Fulero (Curtis Salgado Band) and Lloyd Jones.
