Description
With his project 'Song', the German percussionist and composer Bodek Janke with Polish-Russian roots has created a cross-genre experiment in which the simple element of songs meets the complex element of improvisation.
SONG is a modern and acoustic, 21st-century response to the world of singer-songwriters, pop music culture and its songs - both from our current times and the 20th century. A heavy clash of contrasting music cultures paves the creative space towards new rhythmic, melodic and harmonic structures, surprising the listener with fresh and new but catchy sounds from an exceptional drummer, composer and arranger. The format of a "song" per se is, globally speaking, the most accessible kind of music to people
In the second part Janke works with the Namibian-Belgian singer-songwriter Shishani, who has an enchantingly fragile, yet powerful voice and a groovy way of playing the guitar.
The piano trio with pianist Kristjan Randalu, double bass player Philip Donkin and Bodek Janke expands the framework harmonically and rhythmically in an exciting and musically new way.
With additional musicians: Bill Evans, sax; Gilad Hekselman, guitar; Sebastian Studnitzky, trumpet and the Atom String Quartet.
