Description
Whether in school, urban or courtly theatre; without singers and instrumentalists, a dramatic performance would have been incomplete. Not only was the opera so successful, but the acting also saw itself as a unity of word, scene and music.
The baroque man was as impressed by multimedia as the audience today.
This reissued CD is the result of a research project in the course of which approximately 1,300 plays in German-speaking countries were examined for their musical components. The complete drama music from "Judith" by Martin Opitz, composed by Matthaus Apelles von Lowenstern, as well as excerpts from seven other plays are offered.
