Description
Varèse Sarabande celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Lonesome Dove saga with the release of Lonesome Dove - Original TV Miniseries Soundtrack. Out of print for more than 10 years and never available digitally. With the original music composed and conducted by Basil Poledouris, the album features a new exclusive track composed and performed by Zoë Poledouris and her husband Angel Roché, which uses her father's timeless themes from the original score in tribute.
Basil's first western, Lonesome Dove won the 1989 Emmy® for Music Composition for a Limited Series, Movie or Special. This was the first of five scores Basil would compose for director Simon Wincer who also won an Emmy® for the mini-series. With 7 Emmys®, 2 Golden Globes® and numerous other awards and acclaims, Lonesome Dove helped to revive both the television western and the miniseries in the early 90's.
Best known for the music to films like Red Dawn (1984), Robocop, The Hunt For Red October and Flight Of The Intruder, Poledouris had over 90 credits as a composer before his passing in 2006. His prolific collaborations with directors John Milius and Paul Verhoeven helped create some of the most beloved cinema of the 20th century. Poledouris worked on several projects with his composer-performer daughter, Zoë Poledouris, including John Waters' Cecil B Demented.
