Description
In the period between the Golden Earring albums "Seven Tears" and "Together", both guitarist George Kooymans and singer Barry Hay worked on solo material. Barry Hay's album, entitled "Only Parrots, Frogs & Angels", was released in April 1972 and was the result of a vibrant recording period at the Phonogram Studio in Hilversum, where he recorded a series of songs with a selection of renowned Dutch session musicians (including Patricia Paay, Robert Jan Stips and Herman van Veen). The cover of the original gatefold sleeve was designed by The Hague artist Bob Lens - including a cardboard button attached to the front of the sleeve - based on an idea by Hay. Over the years, "Only Parrots, Frogs & Angels" has become a cult album for which collectors pay high prices - especially if the button is still part of the sleeve. In the eight-page booklet, Barry Hay reminisces about the making of the album. The cover design by Bob Lens and Barry Hay himself is included as a double-sided fold-out poster. The album has been remastered from the original Phonogram Studio master tapes especially for this reissue.
