  • Description

Until Perfect Time, Archimedes Badkar had made four albums, the last one, "Bado Kidogo", recorded 1978, a collaboration with the Tanzanian band Afro-70, which since has become high-priced collector's item, especially in Japan but all over the globe.

Kindred spirits to the American group Oregon and The Incredible String Band, DON CHERRY who lived in Sweden, was also an important influenceas he often appeared live with the band, and also included the members in his own projects and recordings.

The basic tracks were recorded in five intense days at Silence Records´ "Big Pink"-style studio in the woods. It was music they had never played before, and they mainly kept the first takes. These "live in the studio" were then subjected to over-dubs and refinements, most of these made with reggae-dub-style-master JONATHAN SANDBERG in his Stockhom studio.

Additional recording in New York added Per´s long-time friend BILL LASWELL on bass for a couple of tracks, since the two had talked about collaborating for a long time, and another of Tjernberg´s long-time partners, DR. JOHN, agreed to a little cameo appearance shortly before his unfortunate passing.

Apart from many new Tjernberg originals, the album pays homage to pieces of music that has remained crucial in the lives of the players with unusual, but loving interpretations of music by Wiliie Dixon, Grateful Dead, Bobby "Blue" Bland, The Fugs, Bob Dylan, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Duke Ellington, Santana, Alice Coltrane, The Rolling Stones, Don Cherry, Son House… and Harpo Marx… and others !

The results are Perfect Time, released as two 2-disc sets (2 CD or 2 LP's), both housed in LP-sized box-sets with lavish booklets.
