Description
We present you the debut album by outstanding clarinettist Andrzej Cieplinski and a third, after two solo albums, by Tymoteusz Bies, a multi-talented pianist. Both artists have won numerous prizes and performed in renowned concert venues. This album is a summary of several years of their concert cooperation.
It features virtuoso miniatures by Krzysztof Penderecki and colourful, stylistically diverse sonatas by Poulenc, Weinberg and Debussy. The latter is an original, very interesting transcription of a violin sonata. The choice of works was influenced not only by the virtuoso potential of a given composition, but also by the performers' sentiments.
The third protagonist of the album is a well-known photographer and reporter, Wojciech Grzedzinski, whose black-and-white portraits against the background of Masurian landscapes inspired the title of the album, Irrberge, which means "errant mountains". In the symbiosis of image and sound, music acts as a signpost that guides the listener along the path of personal, expressive interpretations.
"This is an album with an interesting concept, combining photography with music. […] This is a disc which pairs some fine playing with some well-sculpted … performances. […] The sound is very good with the instruments well captured and well-balanced." – MusicWeb International
