Amanaska are the Australian duo Simon Lewis and Stephen Joyce, whose pioneering fusion of chillout, dance beats and traditional world music has set a new benchmark in the genre. The word Amanaska is a sanskrit term which refers to the perfect balance of restfulness, alertness and strength that can be achieved during the practising of Yoga. This musical project of the same name explores a similar balance of unusual musical styles of European, Asian and African music over a contemporary base of chillout. The album features guest musicians and singers from a wide range of backgrounds and an eclectic collection of instruments including piano, organ, other keyboards, didgeridoo, violin, trumpet, Irish bouzouki, guitars, bass and percussion. -
