The modernism in Fado blossomed from the encounter between Am lia and Alain Oulman - a conscious but unpremeditated revolution that elevated and shaped both the musical and the poetic qualities of the Fado repertoire, amplifying its audience and artistic implications.
The first recording sessions of ⬠Disco do Busto ⬠took place late at night in Teatro Taborda, on the Castle hill, between 1960 and 1962 and they captured that moment where Portuguese music was reborn.
Besides the innovative sounds, this album also features the first versions of two of Am lia's most traditional and emblematic songs - ⬠Povo que Lavas no Rio ⬠and ⬠Estranha Forma de Vida ⬠.
This release includes three CDs of live versions and rehearsals and a DVD of an interview with Am lia, recorded at her home in 1962.
