Remastered and pressed on 180g vinyl this collectors edition includes a bonus BLUE vinyl 7inch single of the single edit of 'I Could Be Happy' and 'Insects' from the 'I Could Be Happy' 12inch single. The album features the singles 'I Could Be Happy', 'See Those Eyes' and 'Pinky Blue'.
Originally released in May 1982, 'Pinky Blue' came hot on the heels of the 'Happy Birthday' album. Barely six months had passed since its release in September 1981 but 'Pinky Blue' saw Martin Rushent at the helm as producer for the whole project after his success on the 'Happy Birthday' single.
After a very successful headline tour the band ended 1981 with numerous awards; N.M.E's 'Best New Group' and Smash Hits 'Most Promising Act'.
The bands musical style had moved on from their post punk roots to more straight forward pop. But this never phased their stalwart supporter John Peel who continued to champion the band. The inclusion of Neil Diamonds 'Song Sung Blue' raised a few eyebrows, but i think people missed its intended tongue-in-cheek.
Description
Released in May 1982, Altered Images' second album features one the band's biggest singles, "I Could Be Happy", which peaked at number 7. It also contains the singles "See Those Eyes" and "Pinky Blue", as well as their cover of Neil Diamond's "Song Sung Blue". The album was produced by Martin Rushent (Human League, Stranglers, Buzzcocks), and went on to earn a Silver Disc, selling in excess of 60,000 copies.
In this very special 2CD set, CD1 features the original album, while bonus CD2 contains three non-album B-sides, three extended 12" versions and the 7" single edit of "I Could Be Happy".
The two CDs are presented in brand new seven-inch deluxe gatefold packaging, with an 8-page booklet which includes all the lyrics (including the three non-album tracks) and the credits.
