Description
This new release presents selected works of Karol Szymanowski, transcribed for flute and piano, performed here by Polish flautist, Agata Igras and pianist Mariusz Rutkowski.
Szymanowski, the second most prominent Pol¬ish composer after Chopin, became known as a creator who would break patterns, look for new sounds and incorporate Polish music into the European trend. In Szymanowski's music, the raw beauty of the material drawn from folk music coherently com¬bines with modern and uncompromising solutions of formal compositional art.
This album reflects the creative path that Szymanowski took throughout his artistic development, from his fascination with neo-romanticism, through the influences of the Impressionists, to his last stylistic achievements.
The tracks featured on the album are transcriptions for flute and piano; an ensemble that Szymanowski never exclusively wrote for in his compositions.
