Description
A new release in the on-going series based on the Record Supervision archive of classic jazz albums from the 1960s. This release finds Acker Bilk and his band at the peak of its popularity.
The band had just made its first feature film, 'Band Of Thieves', from which two tracks are included here. It is good, driving, foot-stomping trad jazz so typical of the band at the time and the reason for its popularity. Acker had entered the charts with his big hit "Stranger On The Shore" six months before the recordings made here and two tracks from this album, "Gotta See Baby Tonight" and "Lonely", both entered the charts.
