Description
Tatouages originates from Kasai (Zaire) but spent her childhood in Kinshasa, where she immersed herself in various forms of music, from the great Zairean classics to traditional music (Lubas and others) including music heard on the streets. At the age of 15 she moved to Belgium to study, where she was quickly noticed by the fashion world and pursued a career as a model concurrently with her studies. But her passion for music remained and she decided to go back to her roots, travelling to Western Africa, Angola and Zaire, performing with artists of all different genres. This album, her debut, for which she wrote most of the songs, is a journey from Central to Western Africa, with songs in Lingala, Thiluba, Wolof, French and Soninke. Tatouages is a protégé of the band Toure Kunda, who co-prodiced the album and appear as guest musicians.
