    A fascinating coupling of works by Johannes Brahms and Emanuel Moor (1863-1931). Emanuel Moor was a great admirer of Brahms, who took a considerable interest in the younger composer when they met in the late 1880s. Later championed by Pablo Casals, who declared him to be "a true genius, one of the outstanding composers of the century", Moor wrote a considerable number of works for the cello, of which the Concerto for 2 cellos, written for Casals and Suggia in 1908, appears to have been one of the most successful - at the first performance in Moscow, they had to take no fewer than 6 curtain calls.
