Description
This release contains three of the finest albums by legendary tenor and soprano saxophonist John Coltrane - Blue Train + Giant Steps + Ballads. Limited edition 180g vinyl audiophile pressings.
Born in Hamlet, North Carolina, in 1926 (he died prematurely in 1967 at the age of 40), Coltrane played in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, helped pioneer the use of modes, and was at the forefront of free jazz. He first gained prominence as a member of the Miles Davis Quintet and the Thelonious Monk Quartet, and in 1960 he started his career as a leader by forming his own sublime quartet. He remains one of the most influential saxophonists in music history.
