Two genres meet here that, despite their different origins, prove remarkably close to one another. The program brings together twentieth-century polyphonic vocal works by leading composers of their time: Edward Elgar and Benjamin Britten encounter Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel. For all their stylistic diversity, the works are united by their sensitive interpretation of the text and the distinctive sonority of a cappella singing.
