Description
Chesky Records celebrates its 40th anniversary with The Ultimate Headphone Test Disc, the standalone diagnostic edition carved out from Steve Guttenberg's acclaimed 2014 original Dr. Chesky's Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disc. Designed as a dedicated reference tool for audiophiles, sound engineers, and equipment enthusiasts, this collection focuses strictly on objective acoustic evaluations. Free of conventional studio mixing tricks or artificial processing, it isolates a comprehensive suite of high-resolution signals and specialised sonic environments to rigorously test the physical limits of any personal audio setup.
Recorded using Chesky's signature Binaural+ technology - utilising a specialised B&K dummy head microphone to replicate natural human hearing - this release provides an uncompromised standard for assessing dynamic range, spatial imaging, depth, and transient response. Listeners can evaluate 360-degree binaural spatial cues across open-back, closed-back, and in-ear monitors while experiencing direct, uncompressed comparisons between pristine live acoustic dynamics and the flattening effects of studio compression. By isolating these diagnostic tracks into their own release, Chesky delivers an essential tool for evaluating system performance, acoustic resolution, and playback fidelity.
The Ultimate Headphone Test Disc is reissued on 180g 'One-step Pressing' vinyl LP and stearo Hybrid SACD ss part of the Chesky Original Masters series.
