Description
Burt Bacharach and Hal David were one of the most feted and successful songwriting teams of the 20th Century. This carefully-compiled 2CD set examines the early years of their partnership between the years 1957-1962, when they were developing the "AOR&B" style with which they would later become identified.
Unusually they crossed all musical boundaries with their songs topping the US POP, C&W and R&B charts. During this period, both Bacharach and David often worked with other writers, including Mack David (Hal's brother), Lee Pockriss, Paul Hampton, Sherman Edwards and Bob Hilliard, who all feature as co-writers on this set.
'Don't Make Me Over' Comprises sixty memorable tracks, presenting a vast spread of hits, misses and collectors' rarities, featuring stellar artists like: The Drifters; Dionne Warwick; Gene Pitney; The Shirelles; Jerry Butler; Timi Yuro; Etta James; Johnny Mathis; Sarah Vaughan; Del Shannon; Chuck Jackson; Bobby Vee and many more.
