Description
Rainbow Quest was a US TV Series at the height of the folk boom of the 1960s featuring authentic traditional music played in the atmosphere of an informal back porch picking party. Hosted by one of folk music's best known personalities, Pete Seeger, guests were drawn from across the spectrum of traditional music including bluegrass, country, folk, blues and gospel.
THE CLANCY BROTHERS and TOMMY MAKEM were one of the most popular Irish singing acts in the USA in the 1960s. Forgoing the stereotypical maudlin Irish ballads in favour of lusty party songs and traditional Irish folk songs sung in close harmony, in a few short years they rose from the clubs of Greenwich Village to worldwide tours in front of packed houses. The Clancys are joined on the show by TOM PAXTON, one of the finest singer/songwriters to emerge from New York's Greenwich Village coffee house circuit of the early 1960s.
THE MAMOU CAJUN BAND is the traditional ensemble of legendary accordionist Cyprien Landreneau, his cousin Adam Landreneau on fiddle and percussionist Revon Reed. Featuring traditional hard-hitting two-steps and sorrowful waltzes, the band was one of the first groups to bring Cajun music to a wider audience, playing the Newport Folk Festival and touring Europe in the early 1960s.
