It’s been five years since Solarstone last released an artist album. It’s fair to say though that he’s had his hands plenty full meantime. (Two record labels launched, a hundred release between ‘em, ‘Electronic Architecture3’ released, formation of a trance supergroup, yadda, yadda), Oh, and the not exactly trifling matter of mobilizing a scene-wide movement and the 60+ Pure Trance events and 5 Pure Trance compilations that have come along with them. Consciously or otherwise, the fuse for the latter matter was lit with his last longplayer ‘Pure’ in 2012. Its principle became the wellspring that righted the good ship Trance. Richard is at last ready to open up a new front in his all consuming pursuit of purity then, and that starts here, today, now with ‘.----‘. Amongst ‘.----‘ number are (per Dancing Astronaut) the “ethereal�?, “timeless�? (DJ Mag) current single ‘A State Of Mind’. Top & toe, you’ll find instrumental elegance like ‘Cafuné and ‘Eclipse’, and in between, vocal eminence including ‘Untitled Love’, ‘Choosing His Angels’ and ‘I Found You’. Inspired collaborations with the Solarstone debutantes like Meredith Call and Rabbii lie next to the reassuringly familiar. What Solarstone album after all would be complete with out ‘Slowmotion’ collab with Orkidea? Not this one, certainly.
