  • Description

'Phantom Rhapsody' marks a thrilling chapter in the journey of SINO HEARTS, as they unleash their 4th full-length album, featuring 12 electrifying power-pop garage punk anthems. This record not only continues the band's sonic evolution from their previous album 'Lightening the Darkness' but does so with an even more uncompromising and direct approach.

Recorded amidst the challenges of the spring of 2022 at 73 Studio, China's exclusive analog recording haven, 'Phantom Rhapsody' reflects a period of unprecedented adversity in modern Chinese history. The studio sessions were frequently disrupted by the relentless demands of a 24-hour COVID testing regimen, sudden border closures, and mandatory home quarantines. These trying circumstances shaped the album into more than just a musical endeavor; it's a testament to the band's resilience, a sonic diary of their struggle against adversity, and a high-energy musical drama that transcends entertainment.

Produced by Bruno Barcella (who has previously worked with bands like Nikki Corvette, The Manges, Peawees...), the album's journey kicks off with 'Tokyo,' an homage to their previous Japanese tour, influenced by the legendary Japanese band TEENGENERATE. 'Alerta Alerta,' an ode to 70s German Krautrock, calls for a new world order in the aftermath of the pandemic years. The first single, 'Right Out,' co-written with American guitarist Ned Moffit, delivers an absolute power-pop punch reminiscent of the 1979 PEZBAND-led power-pop wave. The title track, 'Phantom Rhapsody,' transports listeners back to the electrifying vibe of the 80s RAMONES era, while 'Endless to Me' draws inspiration from THE CURE and THE SMITHS, creating a nostalgically jangly rock sensation. 'Absolut Horror' emerges as a proto-punk gem that's sure to become a fan favorite. 'Astoria Garage' stands as a modern Chinese poetic response to the golden era of 60s folk psychedelia. The album culminates with 'Ever Really Want This' and 'Honey,' two soul-stirring ballads infused with classic pop-punk catchiness.

'Phantom Rhapsody' is undeniably Sino Hearts' magnum opus to date, a powerhouse of sound that invites you to embark on a musical journey like no other. Prepare to be swept away by the sonic force of this remarkable album.
