  • Description

Skids 1977 documents the Skids' first studio demo recordings, captured in October 1977 and officially released here for the first time on Awrite Records. Recorded by the original lineup of Richard Jobson (vocals), Stuart Adamson (guitar), Bill Simpson (bass) and Tom Kellichan (drums), the collection features the earliest recordings of songs written by the late Stuart Adamson (Skids, Big Country, The Raphaels), later dubbed "Britain's answer to Jimi Hendrix" by legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel.

Capturing the raw energy of Scotland's emerging punk scene, these demos offer a remarkable insight into the band's formative months and the early songwriting of Adamson, whose work would go on to reach a worldwide audience and influence generations of musicians. Compiled with the full support of both Skids and Stuart Adamson's family, Skids 1977 stands as both a historically significant archive release and a highly collectible edition for fans of UK punk and new wave.
