Description
Mellow War is Taylor McCall's 2nd studio album and first production project. This album was co-produced by Taylor McCall and Sean McConnell. This album features Taylor's late grandfather during his days in Vietnam on the cover as well as the intro track, "Sinking Sand", from his days as a pastor. His mother also is singing in the choir. Mellow War explores the balance of good and evil, destruction and healing and the importance of having faith in the darkest of times.
"To me Mellow War is paying homage to my late grandpa, but also in relation to where I'm at musically. My grandpa went to Vietnam. The image on the front is him in Vietnam. These are songs that are sort of letters to home that I imagined he might have sent. My grandpa was a life inspiration for me; it was bigger than just music. The songs are a tribute to everything he stood for and everything he taught me. It's a way for me to share with him even when he's in another dimension. This isn't just about me or myself. This isn't music about myself."
McCall has built a strong grassroots fanbase since discovering his voice in his late teens. His debut studio album, "Black Powder Soul", has sold over 13,000 album equivalents and received over 15 Million streams since it was released in September 2021. Additionally, early champions include MeatEater's Steven Rinella, who featured McCall as a guest on Ep. 242 of his acclaimed podcast. Taylor will embark on his first UK tour in November 2023 opening 15 dates for Robert Plant.
