  • Description

Ever-so-cool art pop with a Brazilian twist marks Thiago Nassif's debut with Gearbox Records. From the forthcoming album 'Mente', 'Soar Estranho' is an irrepressible slice of quirky, hook-laden, yet tropically laid-back Brazilian magic. Sung part in Portuguese and part in English, It sounds like Berlin-period-Bowie at his most radio friendly, and also features NYC No Wave legend Arto Lindsay on guitar and co-production duties to reel in that tart yet moreish Big Apple flavour.

    SOME INFO ON THIAGO NASSIF:
Thiago Nassif is a Rio-based experimental multi-instrumentalist.In 2016 he released his album "Tres" in Brazil through crowdfunding. The album was produced by Arto Lindsay (and also features tracks co-written with Lindsay, as well as guest appearances by the DNA founder) and featured contributions from some of Brazil's most exciting talents from its new generation, such as Negro Leo and Domenico Lancelloti. Combining his influences from No-wave, electronic music and Tropicalismo and inspired by artists such as Tom Ze, Ricardo Villalobos, Alva Noto, and James Chance, the album received the seal of approval from the "Dean of American rock critics," Robert Christgau, who graded it A-, and was heavily played on BBC 3's Late Junction, with Thiago appearing on the show as a guest in July 2018, as well as on the Bandcamp Weekly programme earlier in the same year.In the meantime, Thiago Nassif has continued his collaboration with Arto Lindsay, co-producing and editing Lindsay's recent "Cuidado Madame" album, and working on his follow-up to "Tres" called "Mente", which he is co-producing with Arto Lindsay. On July 3rd 2020, Thiago will celebrate his signing to London-based label Gearbox Records with a follow up to "Tres'. Entitled 'Mente', the album again features Arto Lindsay as co-producer. It will be his first album to receive global distribution, and will be available on Vinyl LP, CD and across all Digital platforms. A tour of of the US, aswell as dates at Cafe Oto (London) and in various cities across Europe.
