Description
Limited and numbered, 1 - 500, edition on black vinyl
Re-release of The Ukrainians' classic EP of Smiths songs sung in Ukrainian! Available for first time on 12" vinyl to celebrate the record's 20th anniversary.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the The Ukrainians' critically-acclaimed and simply stunning' Pisni Iz The Smiths' EP, a musical journey which sees Morrissey transported from Manchester to Dnipropetrovsk!
Tracks featured are Bigmouth Strikes Again, The Queen Is Dead, Meat Is Murder and What Difference Does It Make? - all sung in Ukrainian.
'Pisni Iz The Smiths' is an intoxicating cocktail of traditional Ukrainian music and British Indie pop. The NME said "this record will blow your trousers off".
Now on vinyl for the first time, the tracks sound as clear and raw and fresh as they did when they were first recorded, as vodka-fuelled fiddles, accordion and mandolins interweave with powerful drum rhythms and wonderfully zizzy electric guitars.
The first 500 singles only will be pressed on orange vinyl and the sleeves will be individually numbered.
The Ukrainians are notorious for their Ukrainian language versions of classic Western pop songs. As well as songs by The Smiths, the band has also released 'Ukrainianised' versions of songs by The Sex Pistols, T-Rex, Prince, The Velvet Underground, Kraftwerk, The Tornados and Plastic Bertrand.
