Description
The front man of The Main Attraction was Archie Love from Memphis, Tennessee. He came from a musically enriched family of Gospel singers. At the age of 18 he started his own band "Freedom Express" and became drummer for a band called "Soul Children". While playing with Freedom Express Archie’s skills were so impressive that he was asked to tour with Denise Lasalle and J. Blackfoot and later he worked as a studio vocalist for numerous other groups among them the Bar-Kays. These experiences and increased exposure further encouraged Archie to re-direct his own group to work on their own original projects. He draw the attention of RCA Records and they offered him a recording contract for his band The Main Attraction. Their debut album entitled "All the way" with hit single "Rainy nights" went top 50 on the national Billboard charts. The song was later released by Chico Debarge who had a top 3 single with it. After negotiations with Motown he signed a major recording deal and Archie started a new band called "The Right Choice". Soon after that he released successfully the self-entitled album. The single track "Tired of being alone" became a major hit record in 1988. After intensive touring the group fell apart when several members started their solo projects. -
